What are the requirements for
residential building permits ?

You must have the following:
1. Completed permit application.
2. Land Use Permit from your Township, with Tax Code Number and
Address of Building Site.
3. Two sets of completed plans, stamped by Township Zoning if
applicable to include: Site plan of property, floor plan, front sides
and rear elevations, foundation plan with walkout detail, window and
door sizes and placement and cross section detail.
4. Two copies of specification.
5. Two copies of completed Energy Code sheet.
6. Two copies of manufacturer certified R-Values for windows and
doors.
7. Copy of: signature identification (ie: driver's license) and
builders license.
8. Septic & Well Permit from Environmental Health or sewer and
water, proof of hook-up fees paid to township.
9. Grading Permit from the Drain Commission.
10. Driveway Permit from the Road Commission. |
What are the requirements for commercial
application?

1. Completed permit application.
2. Land Use Permit from your Township, with Tax code number and
address of Building Site.
3. Completed addendum for commercial application for plan
review.
4. Septic & Well Permit from Environmental Health
5. Grading Permit from the Drain Commission.
6. Driveway Permit from the Road Commission.
7. Two complete sets of signed and sealed plans:
Site Plan, Structural and Architectural showing type use of all areas,
electrical showing location of all exit and means of egress lighting,
plumbing and mechanical.
8. Signed and sealed structural calculations.
9. All appropriate wall, floor and foundation sections.
10. Complete door schedule with catalog cuts for all doors and
hardware including locksets.
11. Complete window and glazing schedule.
12. List of all rated assemblies (including diagram of assembly
and design number).
13. Details showing all accessibility requirements.
14. List of all design loads for the building.
15. Statement indicating shop drawings will be submitted for all
fire protection systems.
16. Complete information for all special occupancy requirements.
17. Complete specifications.
18. Complete interior finish schedule with flame spread ratings.
19. Soil boring test.
20. Energy code calculations (ASHRAE 90A-1980 and 90B-1975). |
How do I schedule an
Inspection?

We have installed a Interactive Voice
Response System (IVR). You will need a touch tone phone and your
permit number. The number to call for this service is 517 546
5586 or 517 546 3830 or
517 546 5148.
The IVR system will prompt you through the steps
during your call. You may perform multiple transactions during
each call. At the end of the call you be be issued a
confirmation number. We recommend that you keep a record of your
confirmation numbers and associates transactions in case they are
needed for any reason.

When does a permit expire?
|
A
permit is good for 6 months upon issuance. If there is recorded
activity on that permit, such as an inspection in the first 6
months, a 6 month extension will be given. If there is no recorded
activity on a permit within the first 6 months, the permit will
become invalid. Cancelled or invalid permits cannot be refunded or
reinstated. |
How do I get a Certificate of Occupancy?
|
You must complete an application for
certificate of occupancy. ALL final inspections relating
to the project have to be completed and approved prior to making the
application for certificate of occupancy. All outstanding
re-inspection fees must be paid prior to the certificate of occupancy
being issued. Please note it is unlawful to use or occupy a structure
without a certificate of use and occupancy under Michigan Complied Law
125.1513. |
