CPL application
packets are available from the County Clerk's office or from the
Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
1. Applicant must file his/her
application with the County Clerk in the county in which the
individual resides. This must include:

A.
A copy of the certificate of completion of the pistol safety
training course. Refer to
House Bill 5698 for specific certificate requirements.
B.
Fee for new and renewal CPL licenses is $105 payable by check
or cash to the Livingston County Clerk. |
2.
The County Clerk will provide a receipt for payment of fees.
3.
The applicant shall bring the receipt to the Sheriffs Department for
fingerprinting.
Hours for fingerprinting at Sheriff's Office
Monday-Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm.
4.
The County Sheriff or his/her designee will fingerprint the
applicant and forward the fingerprints to the Michigan State Police
for processing.
5.
Applicants may be asked to appear before the Livingston County Gun Board in
order to be issued or denied a CPL.
6. Once applicants have
all of their information received from the state, it will be
reviewed by the board and a notification will be sent to them
informing them of the next step necessary.
7. You can obtain your passport photo at the
Clerk's Office for a fee of $10
*Passport Photo standards: Taken
alone, sufficiently recent to be a good likeness (normally taken
within the last 6 months), with an image size from bottom of chin to
top of head (including hair) of between 1 and 1 3/8 inches. Photo
must be clear, front
view, full face, taken in normal street attire
without a hat or dark glasses with a white or off-white background.
They must be capable of withstanding a mounting temperature of 225°
Fahrenheit (107° Celsius). Snapshots, most vending machine prints,
and magazine or full-length photographs are unacceptable.
