Wastewater Management

 Waste Water Management

The On-site Wastewater Management Program was developed to assure that the disposal of sewage is accomplished in a sanitary manner to prevent the spread of disease, protect against contamination of surface waters and ground waters of the State, prevent the occurrence of general nuisance conditions, and maintain and/or upgrade the standard of living in Livingston County.

The Environmental Health Division of the Livingston County Health Department regulates underground disposal of sanitary sewage for all facilities that generate up to 10,000 gallons per day.

The Program includes the evaluation of site conditions to determine suitability for the utilization of on site sewage disposal, evaluation and approval of the construction of sewage disposal systems, and the investigation and enforcement of complaints regarding improper operation and maintenance of existing on site sewage disposal facilities.
