2009 County Databook For several years the Livingston County Department of Planning has been an affiliate of the Michigan Information Center (MIC) out of the State of Michigan Budget Office. Our affiliate relationship means that County Planning receives all census products on both CD Rom and in print, and we receive substantial technical assistance regarding the extraction and interpretation of the data. In return, County Planning must maintain a census library, distribute the data in a manner which is understandable to the general public and submit an annual report that outlines these activities. Our partnership with MIC has been extremely beneficial. Not only do we receive valuable census information each decade, we receive numerous census updates throughout the mid-decade period. For instance, the Census of Agriculture is published in the years ending in “2” and “7”. The Data Book and Community Profiles is designed to showcase Livingston County It is our intent to provide a document that serves many purposes, such as: a decision-making guide for local planning commissions, councils and boards of trustees; a relocation guide for new residents and businesses; a marketing tool for persons in the development community; and a strategic planning tool for any local non-profit or for-profit organization that is planning their future direction. Most of all, this valuable reference book provides us the opportunity to highlight some of the many data products that are available through the departments of Livingston County government.
